Spy Shots | Chinese automotive media excited by Citroen DS5 ...

The Citroen DS5 launched in Shanghai at the 2011 Auto Show in April this year and is the third vehicle to be put under Citroen?s new DS line, the DS5 hasn?t made it to market yet but it might have another airing at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. The DS5 will be using PSA?s own diesel hybrid system which marries a 2.0 diesel engine powering the front wheels to an electric motor that powers the rear wheels, together the two motors can be used to power all four wheels or if the battery is sufficiently charged the electric motor can be used to power the vehicle. PSA did of course sign a joint venture agreement with China?s Chang?an Motors earlier this year, the deal will see the two produce Citroen?s DS and MPV range in the Chinese market down in Shenzhen city. The DS5 is expected to be one of the first cars to be put in to production in China, however the Chinese press are guessing that the DS5 will dump its high tech hybrid system for a simpler 1.6T or 2.0L engine in China.
