Lynn University Haiti victims remembered

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The six people from Lynn University who were killed during the earthquake that struck Haiti three years ago were remembered on Saturday.

Dozens packed onto campus, filing into the newly finished memorial for the four students and two professors who died in the natural disaster.

"We spoke with Christine 8 minutes before the earthquake. So at that very moment I'm thinking, you know three years ago, 8 minutes ago I spoke to my daughter for the last time. So it's still very raw, it's only been three years," said Jean Gianacaci, the mother of Christine Gianacaci.

Christine was 22 years old when she died. Her father John Gianacaci still carries a picture of his daughter in his wallet.????????

"The university promised they'd never forget and what they've create here at this memorial, is beyond anyone's expectations," said John Gianacaci.

The Gianacaci family was joined by dozens of others for the ceremony, which was held for the first time at the new memorial site.

The gathering was the finale of a week of service projects.

The Gianacaci family said they have come a long way in three years and the foundation they created for Christine is flourishing.
